jordannamorgan: Bela Lugosi as Dr. Mirackle, "Murders in the Rue Morgue". (Writer)

Would anyone be interested in duplicating the recently-closed [community profile] verbosity? This was a wonderful comm which allowed writers to set word goals each week, and tracked their progress through daily word counts logged via comments. (As well as offering a little graphical stamp to claim as a reward for meeting one's goal--which was a delightful motivating bonus, although not strictly necessary.)

The moderator has confirmed she doesn't mind if someone copies Verbosity's structure, so I'd love to see a new version of the same system on DW. For more than two years, it was a major benefit to my writing productivity, and I know other users felt the same way.

I'm sad that I never came across this comm until after it ended! I hope someone can pick this back up, as it'd be nice to see if a setup like this one would help me the way it seems to have helped others.

Word Keeper Alpha looks pretty cool! I will give it a try; I've been using a Google Sheets, er, sheet, but that looks 1) prettier and 2) a little simpler to wrangle.

I hope somebody else jumps on this. With time, I could look further into Verbosity, learn how it worked, and maybe try setting up/running a duplicate of it, but it'd probably make more sense for a member of the original comm to do it.

Hey guys, I'm the creator of WordKeeperAlpha. This year I'm going to be working on a fairly large social update for WKA. My initial plans are for a 'friend' or 'following' system, creating writing groups, and some 'gamification' (earning points or trophies for finishing goals and projects). I'll probably be rolling these out slowly, since I'm just one guy and I don't make any money off of WKA, or anything...and I gotta write my own book too :)

That being said, if there's features you'd like to see that would help you out, I'd love to know. I'm always looking for good ideas, and if you've got something that works here, it might work for other people too. I can't promise anything, but this is your chance to influence my design thinking :) I'm not very familiar with how your community works (just saw it pop up in my weekly search for people talking about WKA, because I'm vain).

I'll keep an eye here, or someone can shoot me an email at mericlese@gmail.com for feature requests / feedback / complaints.

Also, sidenote: If you're new to WKA, I'm doing some upgrades right now. There are some bugs I'm squashing in preparation for a major upgrade in a month or so. Please forgive the dust.

It's less that we don't care, and more IE is a particular pain in the butt. I'll pull down IE9 sometime in the near future and see if I can find out what the problem is. Sorry about that.

Oh, wow, hi!

I didn't get much of a chance to use WKA this month, since I already had other word tracking stuff in place, and it was harder than I expected to switch over, especially in the middle of Camp Nano. I'm looking into doing a bit of setup later today in prep for tracking my words in May, though!

Thanks for the Word Keeper Alpha link. It looks like it might be helpful.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it has the helpful nudge of a DW community.

I'm not familiar with [community profile] verbosity, but I'm tentatively interested in a new, current version.

I use [community profile] inkingitout and [community profile] writethisfanfic for similar purposes, but their structure is different, I think.

Oh, man, I hadn't realized it was closing. :c! I dropped in occasionally when I needed a boost and was about to start swinging at my writing again and was looking forward to those spiffy badges.

(Seriously, offer me a pretty to slap somewhere and I'll fall for it every time.)

If no one else volunteers, I could see about putting a new one together?
